Yesterday morning I facilitated a personal branding workshop for University of Denver adult education students. The group consisted of adult learners who are in the process of changing careers or enhancing their current status by completing master's degree or certificate programs as part of the University of Denver's University College. The branding workshop is intended to help the students develop a positioning platform which will provide the focus and direction necessary to find the right job fit.
During the workshop we discussed the process organizations undertake to develop brands, and we looked at case studies like Starbucks and Southwest Airlines. We then divided into groups and each group was asked to develop a brand positioning platform for a well-known person. The session wrapped up with a discussion on individual missions, visions, values and goals.
Between now and next Saturday, each student will draft a personal brand positioning platform and present to the class. We will respond to each platform and make recommendations for implementation and implementation.

Bonjour from a Personal Brand Strategist in Paris where I have given many workshops and courses on Personal Branding and Online Identity at top business schools on this side of the "pond". Along the same lines as your positioning platform assignment, I have a project called the "Brand Called You" where students come up with their own logo, mission statement, vision, purpose, USP, tag line, spokesperson and more. Very introspective, and at times initially met with some hesitation , but in the end this assignment resonates and initiates some foundation messaging for their personal brand.
