Like many of you last Friday I was expecting to be writing today about someone from the Detroit Red Wings organization, not the underdog Pittsburgh Penguins. After all, how could the Penguins win on the road in game seven of the Stanley Cup finals on home ice of Swedish Olympic Team? Oh ya, the Detroit Red Wings. But they did.
Most of the media content the past few weeks has been devoted to the top-tier players on the Penguins roster. They have two of the top players in the world, so why shouldn't there be focus on them? To me an igloo worth the credit needs to be pointed to head coach, Dan Bylsma. He came into a hopeless situation a few months. The team was in 10th place and did not appear to even be playoff worthy.
Slowly but surely the Penguins began to win games at the end of the season and peaked at the right time. For your efforts and leading your team to the Stanley Cup, Dan Bylsma, you are the Brand Champion of the Day. While there are many champions of the Penguin brand already, I think you have recruited many more.
