Above is the title of a tutorial that I will be co-facilitating on November 15, 1:00-5:00 pm at the Marriott Boston Copley hotel next fall. The tutorial will be part of the pre-conference offerings at the American Marketing Association's 2009 Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education. At last year's conference in Chicago I facilitated a round table discussion on internal branding. The room was jammed, so based upon the success of last year and the emergence of this trend, a full session on internal branding has been added to this year's conference.
This year I have the pleasure of working with Joe Donovan, Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communications at La Salle University. Joe and I describe ourselves as kindred spirits when it comes to brand development. We have been working together on a brand initiative for the past year and one-half, and I look forward to continuing our roles in education brand building next fall in Boston. Joe is a true brand champion and fully understands the importance of including internal branding in his institution's brand development efforts.
Supported by successes from businesses, colleges and universities, as well as by reviews of the pertinent literature and internal brand work conducted for higher education, Joe and I will examine the critical role of internal branding for higher education communications and marketing professionals. Participants will learn the step-by-step process of internal branding, from communications to culture change and finally business strategy. In our provocative session, participants will discover how internal branding can be successfully applied to their college or university, no matter what stage their institution is at in the brand development process.
Yesterday I tweeted on this subject and posted the even on my facebook wall, so I thought I best cover all bases, by posting the event on my blog too. If you or someone you know might be interested in attending the Symposium and registering for our internal branding pre-conference session, please visit the American Marketing Association website and go to the events page. Joe and I look forward to connect or re-connecting with a network of brand champions in Boston.
