Technology, what a concept. Yesterday I learned from my daily online Fast Company newsletter on my Blackberry that Facebook has acquired Friendfee. Today I am writing about the social network marriage on my blog. A few years ago I would have never thought that this experience would be taking place. Like many of you I can speculate about the impact that the Facebook purchase of Friendfeed will have on those of us who use these applications on to enhance our own brands.
Each day feeds from this blog and twitter end up on Facebook and Friendfeed. Although I have my Friendfeed link on my email signature and occasionally someone will request to connect from there, I probably have not utilized Friendfeed as much as I should have in the past. After reading the news yesterday that Facebook is taking it over, I am not sure what to think about the situation. Will Friendfeed simply go away or will its technology be merged into yet another Facebook? One thing is for sure, those social media applications that are not integrated with others will not survive, or will be taken over by someone else. Your brand needs to be aware of these ongoing changes and you need to devote the appropriate resources to stay connected.
How do you think the acquisitions will change Facebook? How will it change your business strategy? Are you effectively leveraging social media to enhance your brand, and recruit and retain your brand champions?
