I am surprised at how many people and how many organizations still do not know the answer to that question. They do not take the time to regularly Google themselves or search key words related to their brand to determine what others see when they keystroke the same. They do not have a brand platform to guide their business strategy and they do not have a search engine optimization plan to support their brand strategy. They might be invisiable.
Last year I facilitated a personal branding workshop. As I always do I started the session by asking the class how many had recently Googled themselves. Only about a third of the hands went up. During conversations with brands I ask representatives about their search engine optimization strategy. I often get blank stares.
It does not take a lot of time and it does not take a lot of brain strain to develop a search engine optimization plan to ensure that your brand comes up on the first or second page when people by design or hampen stance research concepts related to your brand. You will be jazzed when you see your brand coming up all over the place. That is how you recruit and retain brand champions.
By the way, a blog is a great way to increase your online presence. If you do not have an online presence, you are invisible. By the way, this is branding.
