Democrat vs. Repbulican Brand Platforms

GOP_Dem_logos

For most of the past few weeks, people like you have gone to Google and typed in the words that appear above and have landed here on my blog. Because of the number of times this has happened, I conclude that most people still do not understand what the two major political parities in the US stand for. In other words, the parties still do not have a brand.

If we agree that a brand is a name and the associations with that name, then it should be obvious what the two parties stand for. A brand platform is a short baseline summary of who we are and what we hope to communicate in an accurate, authentic, concise and consistent manner. The democrats just completed their convention here in my city of Denver, and tomorrow the republicans begin their convention in St. Paul, and people still do not know what these two parties stand for.

We are scheduled to vote in two months and many of us are not sure where the two parties stand. No wonder it is difficult for many to become enthusiastic brand champions of one of the two major parties in the US. What do you think is wrong with this picture?
