Brand Champion of the Day- Paul Harvey, News Radio Pioneer

 

As I do every Monday and Friday, today I am paying tribute to a brand champion. Paul Harvey was a long-time news radio personality and commentator for the famous, "The Rest of the Story." You probably recognize that story title, or his distinctive voice, or words attributed to him like skyjacker, Reaganomics and guesstimate. He was a brand before we gave people that moniker. He was also a staunch champion of the USA brand.

During his heyday, Mr. Harvey was aired on some 1,200 radio stations across the United States and reached nearly 24 million listeners each day in America. He opened every broadcast with the words, "Hello Americans! This Paul Harvey! Stand by for News! He closed each broadcast with "Paul Harvey. Good Day!" Last Saturday Mr. Harvey passed away at age 90.

Today, for all he brought to Americans, Paul Harvey is the Brand Champion of the Day! A Good Day!
