Branding Gains Importance
In two weeks I have the pleasure of filling the position of Vice President for Brand Management for the Colorado Chapter of the American Marketing Association. This is a newly created position on the Board of Directors, and I am honored to join the Board.
For the past few years I have heard frustration from many people that branding has not assumed a loftier place on the Boards of many professional associations in the marketing and communications fields. I think the reason is that for many organizations, especially in the United States, brand is still relatively new. The way branding is evolving, and its importance to all organizations, I think there should be a position devoted to brand on every Board. If there is not some presence, how can we recruit and retain brand champions for our associations?
I commend the President of the Colorado Chapter of the AMA for her forward thinking efforts and I look forward to supporting her efforts.
